Onboarding Checklist for Construction Companies
A complete step-by-step guide to setting up attendance tracking for your construction company
Welcome to Jibble’s construction attendance app!
Setting up a new software is simple when you have a clear plan to follow.
This onboarding checklist helps construction companies set up Jibble step by step—from adding crews and configuring GPS/face recognition to setting up on-site kiosks. Follow our checklist to ensure smooth roll-out across your sites.
1. Organization Setup
Navigate to the Organization tab to configure your company details:
Set a primary timezone –Select the primary timezone for your main job site or headquarters.
Select a default timesheet timezone – Select the default timezone used for timesheet calculations.
2. Configure Time Tracking Policies
Navigate to Time Tracking Policies to configure attendance rules for your crew:
Configure device restrictions – For on-site crews, we recommend enabling the Mobile Apps and Shared Kiosk.
Enable offline mode if required – Allow offline clock ins for uninterrupted tracking in remote construction sites.
Configure time clock restrictions – We recommend enabling these settings for on-site teams:
- Require Facial Recognition/selfies – Quick verification when workers clock in.
- Enable live location tracking – Monitor where supervisors and crews are working throughout their shift.
- Require location with time entries – Record GPS locations with every clock in/out.
- Enable geofencing – Allow construction crew members to clock in within authorized sites only.
Enable device lock – Restrict clock ins/outs to authorized mobile devices only.
Enforce geofence automation – Automate clock ins/outs when crew members cross an authorized construction zone.
Note: You can only enable either live location tracking or geofence automation at one time, not both simultaneously.
3. Create Work Shifts
Navigate to the Work Schedules tab to configure these settings:
Set work schedules – Define start and end times or flexible shifts for crews.
Define break policies – Establish break types and rules that comply with site safety and labor laws.
Configure overtime rules – Set up overtime policies based on union rules or local labor regulations.
4. Set up Holiday Calendars & Time Off Policies
Navigate to the Time Off & Holidays tab to configure these settings:
Add a holiday calendar – Import public holidays so timesheets reflect non-working days.
Create time off policies – Set rules for requesting sick leave, weather delays, or vacation.
5. Add Activities, Projects & Clients
Navigate to the Activities & Projects tab to add the following:
Add activities – Set up construction tasks for your crew to track time against (e.g., concrete pouring, framing, inspections).
Add projects – Enable your crew to log hours against construction projects they work on.
Add clients – Add your clients and easily assign them to relevant projects.
6. Add Locations
Navigate to the Locations tab to add authorized construction sites:
Add work locations – Search an address and add authorized work sites for your crews.
Assign locations to schedules – Add specific work sites to work schedules to enforce geofencing.
7. Crew and Supervisors Setup
Navigate to the People tab to onboard your crew and configure these settings:
Invite team members – Send invites to all workers and supervisors who will be tracking time.
Add members without accounts – Input names without sending invites for workers to track time via an on-site kiosk.
Assign roles and permissions – Define who will be Admins (HQ), Managers (site supervisors), and Members (crew).
Create groups – Organize your crew into groups by trade (e.g., electrician, carpenters) or job sites.
Assign managers to groups – Assign supervisors to each group or job site.
8. Set up On-site Kiosks
On your Jibble app, go to the Menu page and switch to Kiosk mode to set up your on-site kiosk:
Create kiosks – Set up shared kiosks to be placed at site entrances for crew clock-ins.
Configure kiosk settings – Select your preferred kiosk mode to define how attendance will be taken.
9. Start tracking your crew’s attendance
With everything set up and your crew onboarded, everyone can now clock in and out while on the move or at any authorized work sites, as supervisors view attendance and tracked time in real time.
