What Is an Overtime Calculator?

An overtime calculator helps estimate extra pay earned from working beyond regular working hours. Instead of manually calculating overtime rates and additional earnings, the calculator automatically estimates overtime pay based on regular wages, overtime hours, and selected overtime rates.

How Much Is Overtime Pay in Indonesia?

Employees in Indonesia earn overtime pay when they work beyond the legal working hour limits of 7 hours per day for a 6-day workweek, 8 hours per day for a 5-day workweek, or more than 40 hours per week.

Overtime pay on regular workdays typically works as follows:

  • First overtime hour: 1.5x the regular hourly wage
  • Each additional overtime hour: 2x the regular hourly wage

Higher overtime rates apply when employees work on weekly rest days or official public holidays. In these cases, overtime is generally paid as follows:

  • First 7 overtime hours: 2× the hourly wage
  • Eighth overtime hour: 3× the hourly wage
  • Ninth to eleventh overtime hours: 4× the hourly wage

Is There an Overtime Limit in Indonesia?

Yes. Indonesian labor law (Government Regulation No. 35/2021, Article 26) limits overtime work to a maximum of 4 hours in one day and 18 hours in one week.

These limits apply to overtime worked on regular working days and do not include overtime performed on weekly rest days or official public holidays.

Can Employers Require Overtime in Indonesia?

No. Employers in Indonesia cannot require overtime work without the employee’s approval.

Before overtime begins, the employer must issue an overtime instruction and obtain the employee’s consent through written or electronic agreement.

Is There a Faster Way To Calculate Overtime in Indonesia?
