What Law Governs Work Time In the Philippines?
In the Philippines, work time is governed by the Labor Code of the Philippines. Under this law, the standard workday is 8 hours per day. Any work beyond that is considered overtime and must be paid with an additional rate of at least 25% of the employee’s regular hourly wage.
If you work more than 8 hours on a holiday or rest day, the extra hours must be paid at your regular holiday/rest day rate plus at least 30% more.

In the Philippines, the standard work time is 8 hours per day, usually spread across 5 days a week for a total of 40 hours weekly. If they exceed these hours, they can be entitled to overtime pay.
How Much Is the Minimum Hourly Pay In the Philippines?
Minimum wages in the Philippines vary depending on region and industry. For the National Capital Region, the minimum daily rate is set at ₱695 for non-agricultural workers and ₱658 for agricultural, retail, and service workers. This rate was set as of July 18, 2025.
If you divide these daily rates by the standard 8-hour workday, the approximate hourly pay comes to about ₱86.88 for non-agricultural workers and ₱82.25 for agricultural/retail/service workers.
