What Is a Work Time Calculator?

A work time calculator is a simple tool that adds up employees’ start and finish times, including breaks, to give you total worked hours. For businesses in Bangladesh, it helps make payroll faster, cleaner, and more accurate without relying on manual spreadsheets.

Who Should Use a Bangladesh Work Time Calculator?

Any employer or employee who needs accurate working-hour calculations can use a work time calculator, whether you’re in manufacturing, retail, construction, hospitality, or office-based work.

It’s especially useful for:

  • Preparing payroll
  • Monitoring overtime
  • Verifying hours stay within legal limits
  • Planning shifts and weekly schedules

How Does It Work?

Using the Jibble work time calculator is simple. You can follow these steps to get started:

1. Enter start and end times:Use 12-hour or 24-hour format—your choice.

2. Add break durations: Lunch breaks, tea breaks, or short pauses are deducted automatically.

3. Choose number of working days: Calculate hours for a day or the whole week.

4. Get instant totals: See total hours, daily breakdowns, and decimal hours for payroll systems.

What Do Bangladesh Labor Laws Say About Working Hours?

Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, 2006:

  • A standard workday is up to 8 hours, but with overtime, it can go up to 10 hours per day.
  • Workers must have rest breaks: at least 1 hour if they work more than 6 hours, or 30 minutes if they work more than 5.
  • The usual workweek is capped at 48 hours, but can go as high as 60 hours with overtime, averaging no more than 56 hours across a year.

Overtime pay must be double the regular hourly rate (basic pay + allowances) when the worker exceeds legal hours.

Why Use This Work Time Calculator Tool?

  • Avoid payroll mistakes by calculating hours the legal way.
  • Ensure you pay appropriate overtime under Bangladesh law.
  • Save time on record-keeping and reduce administrative burden.
