As a CEO of a time tracking software company, I need to know what my competitors are up to — thus, this Timeero review. That means I’m often researching about and/or playing around with their products… you know, it’s part of the job. Here, I share my findings from that research, giving credit to those competitors where credit is due and being honest about which products I believe you really need to avoid. And so, there you have it, this Timeero review. And in it, I try to be honest, fair, and insightful.

This Review Covers:

Overview

Launched in 2019, Timeero is a time and workforce tracking software that aims to deliver unparalleled field insights and customer support.

Having heard the rave reviews of users about their customer service experience, I would say they’re doing a pretty good job with the latter. As for delivering unparalleled insights, the platform is equipped with features that allow businesses to monitor employee work hours, track location and mileage, and generate payroll reports. This ultimately helps to reduce administrative overhead and minimize errors.

After trying out this app myself, I have to say I’m pretty impressed.

The interface has been easy to navigate, and the walkthrough tutorial that pops up after you sign up for an account makes setting up a breeze. On top of that, you can easily invite employees into the platform either through email or SMS. I also had to try out their customer support through their chat feature. And I was able to receive a response in a matter of minutes. Great turnaround time.

To help streamline work management, the app lets you create jobs, add their description location, and assign them to your team. There’s also a mileage tracking option for each job, which collects mileage logs as your team travels throughout the day. It’s a handy feature, especially if you have a mobile workforce.

You can start tracking time and location for jobs via the web or mobile app. However, I’d personally prefer the mobile app because it’s much easier to clock in. With the web app, you’ll need to navigate through different feature tabs, which can get confusing.

There’s definitely a lot to like about Timeero, but as with any software, it’s not perfect. Occasional software bugs and glitches, primarily within the mobile app, can affect the user experience. Many users have also voiced their concerns about the mobile app requiring precise location access at all times, even when it isn’t opened.

Integration-wise, Timeero only has 12 integration options available, which isn’t a lot. This could pose challenges for users looking to integrate it into their workflows seamlessly.

What Pricing Plans Does Timeero Offer?

Timeero offers a range of pricing plans designed to cater to the diverse needs of businesses, whether they’re small startups or established enterprises. These plans will cost you anywhere from $4 to $11 per user per month. The higher the tier, the more advanced features and customization options you can access.

Basic

The Basic plan gives you access to Timeero’s core features: Time Tracking, GPS Tracking, and Mileage Tracking.

It’s not a lot, but if you run a small team with straightforward operational needs, they will do. You can track time both on the web and mobile app and enable the GPS tracking feature to keep tabs on employee location while they’re clocked in. The Mileage feature, on the other hand, works to simplify recording and reimbursing travel expenses by recording employee travel routes and distance traveled.

You can get the Basic plan for $4 per user per month. It’s a good starting point for small businesses or startups looking to implement a reliable time tracking solution without breaking the bank. It’s important to note, though, that the Basic plan can only cater to a maximum of 10 users. Any more than that, and you’ll need to subscribe to their pro plan.

Pro

Unlike the Basic plan, which is only limited to 10 users, the Pro plan accommodates unlimited users. It introduces features like Jobs, Time Off Management, and Scheduling while maintaining Timeero’s core functionalities. Integrations are also made available in this plan, allowing you to connect it with the apps you already use.

The Pro plan also enhances communication by allowing you to send message blasts and attach files and photos. This feature is a game-changer when it comes to giving announcements and providing proof of work, storing expense receipts, and facilitating better documentation of tasks and projects.

A level up from the basic GPS tracking tools, the Pro plan has a Geofencing feature that lets you set authorized locations where your team can clock in and out. What’s more, you can even set the system to automatically clock in employees as they enter a work site and clock out as they leave. This level of automation streamlines the entire process, making it easy and efficient.

All of these added features will cost you a slightly higher price of $8 per user per month.

Premium

Gain access to everything Timeero has to offer with the Premium plan priced at $11 per user per month for unlimited users. This plan includes all features from the previous plan and adds Commuter Mileage, Suggested Mileage, and Location Addresses to the mix. It also lets you automatically clock out users when their GPS is turned off.

While Timeero’s integration options are limited to only 12 with other plans, the Premium plan offers a solution that can help lengthen the list. Subscribers to the Premium plan gain exclusive access to the app’s Public API. This API empowers you to integrate Timeero with various other tools and systems, extending its functionality and enhancing its adaptability to your specific needs. However, it’s essential to note that utilizing the Public API may require specialized IT support.

Enterprise

Timeero offers a tailored solution for large organizations with 250 or more users through their Enterprise plan. When you opt for the Enterprise plan, you gain access to a suite of exclusive benefits.

These include a Dedicated Account Manager who is there to provide personalized support and guidance, ensuring that your experience with Timeero is precisely aligned with your goals. Priority Support is another feature, ensuring your queries and concerns receive swift attention. Single Sign-On (SSO) integration enhances security and user convenience, simplifying access to the platform. Additionally, the Enterprise plan offers Custom Implementation, allowing you to adapt Timeero to your organization’s specific workflows and processes.

The pricing for this plan is only available upon contacting their sales team.

What are the Standout Features of Timeero?

1. Time Tracking

Timeero’s time tracking feature is relatively easy to use. When using the mobile app, you simply need to select a job, press “Clock in”, and you’re good to go. Whereas with the web app, to clock in a user, you’ll need to go to the “Time and Mileage” tab, click on “Quick Time Clock,” select a job and task, and click on “Clock In.” Definitely much easier on mobile.

The time clock records all work hours, including overtime and breaks. All this data is reflected on their timesheet reports, which you can generate for specific dates and export as CSV or PDF files. This functionality simplifies payroll processing and provides valuable insights into workforce productivity and time allocation.

To enhance security during clock-ins and avoid buddy punching, you can enable the facial recognition feature, which will require employees to take a quick face scan to start tracking their time. I especially like this added security feature, Jibble’s attendance tracker has this too and it’s definitely helped in keeping time and attendance records accurate and reliable.

2. Scheduling

Aside from time tracking, Timeero also has a scheduling feature that allows you to create and edit schedules in real time, eliminating scheduling conflicts and saving you valuable time.

You can simply drag and drop schedules on the employee calendars, and employees will receive mobile notifications when they’re assigned to a specific work schedule. Employees can be given permission to accept or decline these shifts right on the platform so employers can make necessary adjustments in advance.

If an employee doesn’t clock in within 10 minutes of their scheduled shift, which can definitely happen sometimes, an email alert will automatically be sent to the Admin. In these situations, you can head over to the “Who’s Working Now” tab to swiftly identify available employees who can step in to cover the shift.

The scheduling feature is offered in both Timeeros’ Premium and Pro plans.

3. GPS Tracking

Timeero’s GPS tracking feature provides real-time location data for your employees. With this system, you can easily track where your team is at any given time, ensuring they are where they should be. You can also view a breadcrumb trail of their past locations and receive alerts if they go outside designated areas.

All location-related data is easily accessible via the dashboard. That includes information on speed, distance, and precise timestamps for each location. This data ensures that you have easy access to your employees’ whereabouts, helping you make informed decisions. You can even set up geofencing, which restricts clocking in and out based on location, enhancing location control.

It’s important to note that to track location on mobile, users must enable precise location permissions for the app on their phones.

4. Mileage Tracking

For businesses with a largely mobile workforce, Timeero offers a robust mileage tracking feature that simplifies the process of monitoring employee mileage accurately and efficiently. It leverages Timeero’s GPS capabilities to help you view your team’s routes as well as their start and end travel times.

Timeero also offers a great suggested mileage feature to help you avoid overpaying for unnecessarily long routes. It shows the shortest route for a destination and compares it with the actual route taken, showing the mileage difference. This can be incredibly helpful for cost optimization.

You can view real-time mileage logs under the “Time & Mileage” tab. You can also generate mileage reports for a specific date range and for both hourly and daily flat-rate workers. The reports include data on total miles and reimbursement costs. Export these directly into QuickBooks to save valuable time and avoid the risks of inaccurate reporting.

5. Reporting

Timeero’s reporting feature simplifies generating and customizing reports for businesses. You can easily access a variety of reports via the web portal. Once generated, you have the option to export reports to either a CSV or PDF format. If you’ve integrated your Timeero account with your payroll provider, you can directly export data related to time worked and mileage costs into your payroll system for added convenience.

Customizing your reports is pretty straightforward. Simply log into the web portal, navigate to Company Settings, and select Reports. Remember to click Save once you’ve made your customizations.

Timeero offers several report categories, including user or group-specific reports, job-based reports, date range reports, totals-only reports, and mileage reports. There are also options for daily flat rate workers, PTO tracking, and weekly summaries, providing a comprehensive suite of reporting tools to meet your business needs.

What’s My Final Verdict on Timeero?

Timeero presents itself as a versatile time and workforce tracking solution especially suited for businesses with a mobile workforce.

As a time tracking software, it’s very straightforward to use, and it comes in a mobile version, allowing users to have more flexibility and track time wherever they are. Aside from tracking time, it can also track employee location to ensure the right people are where they need to be.

Another thing I liked about Timeero, which I think many mobile workforces will find extra valuable, is its mileage tracking feature. It can precisely measure the mileage associated with your employees’ travels based on their GPS logs. Not only that, but it also shows you the shortest route to a destination while comparing it to the actual route taken. This lets you see areas where you can further streamline travel routes and reduce unnecessary expenses.

Its reporting isn’t half bad either, letting you create custom reports that show the exact data you need. If they could add more filters and visual charts to these reports, I think they could even be more powerful.

The issues with their Android app are also something they should look into, given users’ feedback about frequent bugs and glitches. These can definitely ruin the user experience. Users might also have difficulty incorporating Timeero into their workflow given that they only have limited integrations available – only 12 last time I checked.

All in all, Timeero still would make a good choice for businesses looking to automate their time and mileage tracking process. Is it the best time and workforce tracking software? I wouldn’t say so. But it does get the job done. And their top-notch customer service is definitely a plus. I suggest you try their free trial and see how well it fits your workflow.
