FAQs
Some frequently asked questions...
Peruvian labor law requires employers to keep accurate records of employee working hours, including regular hours, overtime, and exact entry and exit times. These records must contain details such as the employee’s identity information, overtime worked, and the date and time of each shift.
A work time calculator makes it easier to track total hours worked, calculate overtime correctly, and keep cleaner records for payroll and compliance purposes. Instead of manually counting hours or checking spreadsheets, businesses can quickly see when employees exceed ordinary working limits or enter overtime.
This also helps reduce payroll mistakes and lowers the risk of issues related to unpaid overtime, missing records, or excessive working hours, all of which can lead to labor penalties in Peru.
No. In Peru, meal breaks do not count as part of the working day. Employees are entitled to a minimum 45-minute lunch break, and employers do not include this time when calculating daily work hours.
As of 2026, the standard working time remains 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week, excluding the mandatory break period.
