The software also offers features such as live tracking, driver behavior scoring, maintenance scheduling, fuel usage monitoring, and more.

One standout feature is Azuga’s driver scoring. Each driver gets a trip score, which is then averaged to provide an overall safety rating. Drivers who score 75 or higher are considered safe, while those who score between 65 and 74 are placed on a watch list. Meanwhile, drivers with scores below 64 are deemed risky. This data allows users to compare drivers and identify which ones need extra training.

Azuga also allows managers to schedule calls, assign team members, and track various details such as status, duration, drive time, and miles traveled for each call. In addition, it offers automatic route optimization and notifications, as well as a variety of ways to optimize routes. Another impressive feature is its ability to utilize Google Earth mapping, including its traffic and weather alerts.

While Azuga is a well-designed app, it unfortunately does not offer a free trial for businesses with fewer than 30 vehicles in their fleets. This means that you’ll have to pay for the software without being able to make sure that you like how it works or that it has the features you need. Even worse, Azuga’s contracts have a minimum period of 36 months, so you’ll be making a 3-year commitment to a service that you haven’t tested for yourself.

Yet another problem that I have with this app is that its pricing is so opaque. You won’t know how much it’ll cost you until you contact customer service to get a quote

Fleetio is suitable for companies of all sizes and offers comprehensive features at an affordable price. What I noticed right off is that it’s easy to use and generates reports. Whether it’s monitoring drivers in the field, retrieving information about the fleet’s inventory, managing stock of vehicle parts, or evaluating driver performance, Fleetio is an efficient fleet management tool.

Another thing I liked is that Fleetio follows a transparent pricing model, clearly outlining the costs associated with each plan. There are no hidden charges or unexpected fees, allowing users to accurately budget for their fleet management needs. Furthermore, I’ve found that it’s fairly priced, especially compared to similar apps.

However, users have reported that Fleetio has a relatively steep learning curve, which can be challenging for new users and might require additional training or support to fully utilize the software. While it’s good that the software is customizable, it can also be overwhelming for some.

Also, while Fleetio allows live fleet tracking, you’d have to go through a third-party service for it. This can be an issue for those who don’t want the extra expense or hassle of using another software for live tracking.

By integrating with popular mapping services such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze, drivers can receive accurate and up-to-date traffic information to optimize their delivery routes.

After completing a delivery, Onfleet requires proof of completion. This can be done through various means such as photos, signatures, barcodes, and notes. 

Onfleet has a sleek and modern user interface, which I found to be easy to use. The app’s UI resembles a social media platform, utilizing an appealing color palette and contemporary fonts.

However, it’s important to note that Onfleet lacks in some areas, such as fleet management and documentation, which are typically associated with other software solutions in the industry.

Another thing that I don’t like about this app is how expensive it is. The Launch plan starts at $500 a month for 2,000 deliveries, then the price more than doubles for the next premium tier. You do get a lot of bang for your buck, but the price can be pretty steep, especially for smaller businesses.

The main purpose of Whip Around is to simplify the management of a fleet of vehicles by eliminating excessive paperwork. All data is stored on a cloud-based smartphone app that is compatible with both iOS and Android markets.

Once the fleet details are entered into the system, Whip Around tracks maintenance schedules and handles emergency situations. Automatic alerts are sent out to notify managers, mechanics, and drivers of any necessary actions that need to be taken and when. Inspection reports and other relevant documents can be easily uploaded into the vehicle summary, ensuring that all required information is readily accessible in one convenient platform.

From a broader perspective, managers have the ability to use the app’s dashboards to generate comprehensive reports. This helps them ensure that the fleet as a whole is on track and in good condition.

The app offers three tiers of service. The first tier is the Basic version, which is free and comes with a seven-day trial period. This version is suitable for managing one vehicle and one driver. It provides the essential features of defect management, DVIR compliance, reminders, and document storage.

The second tier is the Standard tier, which is available for $5 per vehicle per month and includes additional features such as customized templates and forms, reporting, and integrations.

For $10 per vehicle each month, the Pro plan offers advanced features like work order management, inventory management, preventative maintenance schedules, and cost/time tracking.

One flaw that I saw in Whip Around is its inability to correct errors in reports. This can be a significant issue for users who make mistakes or encounter inaccuracies while creating their reports. Without the ability to go back and correct these errors, users may be left with incorrect information or incomplete records, which can lead to confusion and potential misunderstandings.

ClearPathGPS is a popular app that specializes in providing full fleet and asset visibility for field services businesses. The app is designed to help businesses identify and eliminate blind spots as well as streamline operations, which ultimately helps businesses increase their profits.

The app’s key functionalities include live GPS vehicle and asset tracking, driver behavior monitoring, virtual timecards, geofences, fleet maintenance tracking, and historical data. Users can access the app via the web or through the mobile app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices.

In my opinion, this app’s best feature is its monitoring tools. It gives real-time updates on vehicles in the field, with color-coded status updates, track points, and the ability to see vehicles moving automatically. ClearPathGPS also offers a wide range of reports and alerts, allowing businesses to monitor and analyze their fleet’s activity over a specific period.

Another great thing about ClearPathGPS is that it currently offers several hardware devices to meet various tracking needs. One of the available options is the plug-and-play GPS device, which is perfect for light- to medium-duty trucks and cars. It offers decent memory storage and boasts location accuracy within a 10-foot radius.

What I don’t like, however, is that ClearPathGPS only includes advanced reports and alerts in its higher-tier plan. This means that businesses on lower-tier plans may not have access to the same level of insights and alerts, which could hinder their ability to proactively address issues or make data-driven decisions.
