British Columbia has raised its general minimum wage from $17.40 (US$12.73) to $17.85 (US$13.06) per hour, effective June 1, 2025, as reported by the Government of British Columbia.

The 2.6% increase also applies to minimum wage rates for resident caretakers, live-in home support workers, live-in camp leaders, and workers in app-based delivery and ride-hailing services.

The minimum piece rates for agricultural hand harvesters will also rise by 2.6% on December 31, 2025. Timing the increase for year-end allows crop producers to avoid wage adjustments during the middle of the harvest season.

This will be the fourth consecutive annual wage increase, as per the province’s Employment Standards Act, which requires annual minimum wage adjustments to occur automatically based on the previous year’s average inflation rate.

In 2024, about 130,000 workers in British Columbia earned minimum wage or less, according to Statistics Canada.
