As a CEO of a time tracking software company I need to know what my competitors are up to — thus, this Timesheets.com review. That means I’m often researching about and/or playing around with their products, you know, it’s part of the job. Here, I share my findings of that research, giving credit to those competitors where credit is due and being honest about which products I believe you really need to avoid. And so, there you have it, this Timesheets.com review, and in it, I try to be honest, fair, and insightful…

This Review Covers:

Overview

Timesheets.com is an online time tracking service catering to employees, contractors, and businesses of all sizes. Beyond time tracking, it brings a ton of other valuable features to the table, including scheduling, leave management, reporting, and even mileage tracking. Call it an all-in-one time and attendance management tool.

There are definitely some good things about this app, but l have to say, it doesn’t give off a good first impression. I felt that the interface was very outdated and clunky. It was also challenging to navigate certain features, so new users should expect a bit of a steep learning curve.

Looks aside, Timesheets.com’s time clock was pretty straightforward to use. Clocking in and out is as simple as the click of a button and a fairly huge button at that. You can’t miss it! All recorded time is automatically synced to employee timesheets to ensure the accuracy of time entries. Time entries can be added manually, too.

I also liked that the dashboard had data on everything from time and expense records to time off and employee information in easy-to-access tabs. It makes it a breeze to keep track of things like attendance, leave balances, and overtime.

The scheduling feature allows users to add shifts and time off, with custom start and end dates, as events under weekly or monthly calendars. There’s also an option to copy and paste published events to other dates. It’s a very simple way to go about scheduling. Although it did take me a while to figure out how to add PTO and leaves to the schedule. The app basically requires you to add them as a time entry, which is kind of confusing. It would’ve been better if there was a separate Time Off tab where leaves can be requested or approved.

Another area I feel where Timesheets.com falls short is its lack of integration options, which makes it challenging to track time and transfer time data with other tools you use for work. Additionally its lack of a mobile app can be a significant roadblock for mobile teams and field workers who want to easily track their time on the go.

Clearly, there are a lot of things that Timesheets.com needs to work on to meet the evolving needs of users. But before you can truly decide whether it’s the right time tracking solution for you, let’s take a closer look at what it can offer, how much it will cost you, and what other users have to say in this Timesheets.com review. Let’s dive in!

What Pricing Plans Does Timesheets.com Offer?

Timesheets.com has a straightforward pricing structure with no base fees, setup, and cancellation fees. Users can choose from three pricing tiers: Freelancer, Standard, and Nonprofit. Each of these is tailored to accommodate various business requirements. The inclusions for the plans aren’t explicitly displayed on the pricing page, so I had to do a little digging. Here’s what I found.

Timesheets.com Freelancer

The freelancer plan won’t cost you anything, which is great news for users looking for a time tracking solution without the hefty price tag.

As per Timesheets.com’s customer service, the freelancer plan includes access to all of the app’s features. This includes time tracking, time off and PTO management, and scheduling. Users will also be able to keep an eye on mileage and expenses and generate insightful reports.

But as the plan’s name implies, this plan is only suited for freelancers. That means it’s limited to just one user. So, if you plan on using Timesheets.com to manage your team, you’ll have to move on to their other plans.

Timesheets.com Standard

Starting at $5.50 per user per month, the Standard plan can cater to an unlimited number of users. Much like the Freelancer plan, it includes the full suite of features that Timesheets.com offers.

Use it to track time, schedule employee shifts, manage leaves and more. The app also has an Integrated Human Resource System included in all plans, which allows employers to keep all their HR records in one centralized platform.

Timesheets.com Nonprofit

Timesheets.com extends its support to nonprofit organizations through a dedicated pricing tier that offers a cost-effective solution to help them manage their time and resources efficiently.

This plan is much cheaper than the standard plan, priced at only $4.40 per user per month. It includes pretty much the same features as that of the other plans and can also accommodate an unlimited number of users.

To qualify for this plan, you’ll, of course, need to provide proof that you are indeed a nonprofit organization.

Timesheets.com also has a ProPartner Program for added benefits, and its pricing can be analyzed through its support team.

What are the Standout Features of Timesheets.com?

1. Timesheets.com Time Tracking

Timesheets.com has several options when it comes to time tracking, all of which are very easy ways to go. Users can clock in using the one-click timer or add time entries manually by filling up the time entry form. They can also create custom project timers to track time spent on specific tasks or projects with precision.

It’s important to note that only administrators and supervisors with the proper permissions can approve or reject manual time entries. And they can even sign them to certify records. Time entry edits are also allowed upon admin permission.

By default, Timesheets.com establishes weekly and daily work limits at 40 and 8 hours, respectively. However, these limits can be easily customized to align with employee schedules or company policies. Any time recorded beyond these limits is automatically categorized as overtime and highlighted in red, which is a small detail but makes for easier identification. Although I do wish they had overtime alerts and idle time alerts for when users can forget to turn off the timer. I accidentally left the timer running overnight, and it just kept going until the next day!

On top of just tracking time, Timesheets.com’s timer can also capture location data during clock ins and outs if users use its mobile version, provided, of course, that GPS permissions are enabled on the device. This feature serves as a valuable tool for keeping track of employee movements, enhancing both accountability and security.

2. Timesheets.com Mileage and Expenses

The Mileage and Expense feature on Timesheets.com offers a straightforward way to keep track of your expenses so you can ensure project profitability. To record an expense, users simply need to fill out an expense entry form.

One of the great things about this feature is that it allows users to attach receipts, which is pivotal in organizing your expenses. Whether you’re using a desktop or mobile site, you have the flexibility to upload receipts in two convenient formats: photos (in JPG) or scanned documents (PDF files of up to four pages). This versatility ensures that you can capture and store your receipts in a way that suits your preferences and workflow.

Once your receipts are uploaded, Timesheets.com makes it easy to manage them. You can view each receipt individually or compile them into downloadable PDF expense reports. This simplifies the process of tracking, organizing, and reporting your expenses, whether it’s for reimbursement or tax purposes.

3. Timesheets.com Scheduling

Efficient scheduling is a non-negotiable for organizations seeking to streamline their operations, allocate resources effectively, and maintain a precise overview of employee work hours. Thankfully, Timesheets.com does have a scheduling feature that can help in this area.

To access this feature, users simply need to go to the “Schedules” tab in the left menu. From there, you can select specific users whose schedules they wish to view or edit. You can also include company calendar events by checking the corresponding boxes.

Customizing the schedule is straightforward. Timesheets.com lets you adjust the start date of the week using the date selector. Or, if you want to create a new schedule entry, click on an empty cell beside a user’s name. A window will pop up, providing options to specify the start and end dates and times for the desired shift. You can mark it as an all-day event or indicate if the user is unavailable during that time. Schedules can also be marked as published or not, giving you full control over who can view them.

Furthermore, time off requests from timesheets and missed/unscheduled shifts are automatically integrated with scheduling, making it easy to identify for employers. All in all, I think the scheduling feature is pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

4. Timesheets.com Time Off

With Timesheets.com’s Time Off feature, you can keep an eye on leave accruals and balances much more easily. But first things first, you’ll need to establish the types of time off your company policy allows, like sick leave, vacation, or PTO. This step is usually done when you first set up your account, but you can change it later if needed in your account settings.

Employees can easily request time off, and managers can also input time off for their team members. It’s a straightforward process where you choose the type of time off (like sick or vacation), pick the date and how many hours are needed, add any notes, and save the request. For paid holidays, you can enter them all at once for everyone, which is especially handy for things like national holidays.

Everything you need to know about time off is available right on the the dashboard. Here, you’ll see more details on the number of time off hours used for each type of leave or holiday and the number of hours the employees have left based on the eligible leave hours you’ve set per leave policy.

5. Timesheets.com Human Resource Management

Timesheets.com has an integrated human resource system where employers can easily see employee performance documents and data records, their file uploads, and full detailed audit trails on record. Having all this HR data in one centralized platform can really enhance efficiency and simplify HR processes, especially for large companies.

Aside from being a comprehensive database for HR data, Timesheets.com also gives employers many different ways to communicate with employees. They can utilize account alerts, which are system-generated messages sent to individual users. These can be used for welcoming new users and delivering other important news and information to keep users in the loop. The Message Board is another great way to get your message across to your whole organization. It’s basically just a virtual notification board where you can post company announcements for easy access to the entire company.

Furthermore, employers have the flexibility to assign specific account permissions tailored to different employee roles within the organization. This feature ensures that the right individuals have access to the relevant data and tools, maintaining security and data integrity while allowing for efficient management of HR functions.

What's My Final Verdict on Timesheets.com?

Although it doesn’t have the best user interface, Timesheets.com can help users actively track and manage business-related activities with ease. The time tracking and scheduling features are simple to use, making it quick to track work hours, schedule projects, and manage time off. The HR dashboard also does a good job of keeping employee information organized and easily accessible with just a few clicks.

Timesheets.com is only a browser-based time tracker, though, so while you’ll still be able to access it via its mobile version on your phone, it has very basic and, frankly, very weak features. It’s nothing compared to the convenience and robustness of a dedicated time tracking mobile app. So, if you manage a remote team, I suggest you look at other options in the market.

Timesheets.com also doesn’t excel when it comes to integration. It only offers a limited number of integration options, so chances are you might not be able to connect it seamlessly with other tools in your work suite.

Overall, I have to say I’m underwhelmed with this online time tracking service. It definitely still has tons of room for improvement. The time tracking and scheduling features, while good, aren’t exactly great. And the interface is just a big letdown. If they could improve on these areas significantly, I might just recommend it. But for now, I think you’re better off with other time tracking solutions in the market.
