Automatic time tracking

To automate your time tracking experience, you can choose which settings and triggers to enable for a customized experience. This includes an auto clock in when opening the app, auto clock out when exiting the app, and auto launching the app on desktop start.

To configure these settings:

  1. Click on your name situated in the bottom section.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Under the General tab, you can check 3 different boxes to enable settings based on your preferences:
    • Clock in when app launches
      • This feature starts your timer automatically as soon as you open the Jibble desktop app and eliminates the need for manual clock-ins at the beginning of your workday.
      • If a default activity, project or location is set, it will be applied during clock in.
      • If you are already clocked in, no new clock-ins will be performed.
      • Clock-ins will only happen if you’re currently clocked out; breaks won’t trigger a new clock-in.
      • Reminders and auto clock-outs will be applied if enabled in organization or group settings.
    • Clock out when app closes
      • This feature automatically clocks you out when you close the Jibble desktop app, helping to prevent missed clock-outs and ensuring that your end-of-day time is recorded accurately.
      • If you are already clocked out, no new clock-outs will be performed.
      • Clock-outs won’t be performed if you’re on a break and the app is closed.
      • Reminders will be set if configured in organization or group settings.
    • Launch Jibble on desktop start
      • Set Jibble to automatically open whenever you start your computer so you can start tracking your time without having to remember to open it manually.
      • Tip ?: Combine this setting with automatic clock-in for a seamless time tracking experience. Your desktop will open the Jibble app and clock you in as soon as your computer starts.

Sleep and lock detection

To limit idle time from being tracked when you are away from your desktop, you can configure specific settings to automate clock outs or start breaks when your desktop locks or enters sleep mode.

To configure these settings:

  1. Click on your name at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Navigate to the Settings.
  3. Under the General tab, you can select between 2 dropdown fields:
    • When desktop sleeps / wakes up
      • This setting allows you to choose a time tracking action that will trigger when your desktop sleeps, limiting the amount of idle time being tracked
      • You can choose between clocking out, starting a break, or no actions being taken.
    • When desktop locks / unlocks
      • This setting allows you to choose a time tracking action that will trigger when your desktop locks to prevent unwanted tracked time if you are away from your laptop or leave it unattended.
      • Select between an automatic clock out, instantly starting a break, or no actions being taken.

For both dropdown fields, you can choose between 3 options:

  • Do nothing
    • No actions are triggered and any running timers aren’t interrupted.
    • This selection is the default setting.
  • Clock out / Clock in
    • Automatically clocks you out when your desktop sleeps/locks.
    • Automatically clocks you back in once your desktop wakes up/unlocks.
    • No clock out will be created if you’re already clocked out or on a break.
    • Clock in/out reminders will trigger if enabled at the organization or group level.
    • If a default activity, project or location is set, it will be applied during clock in.
  • Start a break / Clock in
    • Automatically starts a break when your desktop sleeps/locks.
    • Automatically clocks you back in once your desktop wakes up/unlocks.
    • This option can only be chosen if custom breaks are not enabled in the assigned work schedule.
    • Clock out reminders will trigger if enabled at the organization or group level.
    • If a default activity, project or location is set, it will be pre-filled during clock in.
